An accounting resume in India is screened on qualification and statutory exposure: CA, CMA, M.Com or B.Com, and whether you have handled GST filing, TDS, statutory audit support and finalisation. Resumere puts your qualification and compliance exposure first, then turns duty lists into measurable finance outcomes.

What sets top accountant resumes apart

What recruiters screen for

Qualification first — CA, CMA, CA Inter, M.Com, B.Com — then statutory exposure. Whether you have independently handled GST filing, TDS, finalisation and audit support is the main dividing line between candidates with similar years of experience.

How to structure it

Summary → qualification and status → systems and compliance → experience → education. One to two pages, single column, reverse-chronological. If you are a CA Inter or article assistant, state your articleship firm and the nature of assignments handled.

Quantify the books you ran

Turnover handled, number of GSTINs or entities, transaction volume, team size and ledger count. 'Handled accounts' is generic; '₹40 crore turnover, three GSTINs, monthly close in 7 days' tells a recruiter what you can take on.

Name the systems and compliance areas

Tally ERP, SAP, Zoho Books, Oracle, and Excel level honestly stated. On compliance, be specific: GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2B reconciliation, TDS sections handled, Ind AS exposure. These are hard filters in finance screening.

Common mistakes

Writing 'GST work' without naming returns, no indication of turnover or entity count, listing MS Office instead of accounting systems, and long paragraphs instead of scannable bullets.

Frequently asked questions

1
How should I show my CA status?
State it precisely: CA qualified with year, CA Inter with groups cleared, or articleship completed with the firm named. Vague wording gets you screened into the wrong pile in both directions.
2
Which compliance work should I name?
Be specific about the returns and sections you have handled — GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-2B reconciliation, TDS sections, advance tax. 'Handled GST and TDS' is far weaker than naming the actual filings.
3
Does articleship experience count?
Yes, substantially. Name the firm, the duration and the nature of assignments — statutory audit, tax audit, internal audit, GST. Articleship is often the strongest evidence a CA Inter candidate has.
4
How long should an accountant resume be?
One page for up to about five years, two beyond that. Keep it single column so ATS parsers and finance recruiters both read it cleanly.
5
Should I mention Tally if I now use SAP?
Yes. Many Indian employers still run Tally, and having worked across systems signals adaptability. Name both and indicate which you used most recently.
